Lazarus came to Nantucket from London, England in 1977, making the island his home for the next forty-two years until recently moving to Portland, Maine.  As an established scrimshaw artist on the island, he has also gained a reputation as an accomplished printmaker, watercolorist and oil painter.  His work can be found in local galleries, museums and in private collections across the country, in Europe and in other parts of the world.
