Robert “Bobby” Frazier was taught by his mother, Barbara, to draw and paint by age twelve, and later joined her as a student of Philip Burnham Hicken in the 1970’s and early 80s in his studio on Pine Street. Frazier started out as the janitor for the Artists Association of Nantucket and joined as an artist in 1974. He shared a Little Gallery exhibition with his brother Douglas on 7/15/1974, and held his first solo exhibition at The Little Gallery on 9/23/1976. Frazier was President of the AAN from August 1999 to August 2004 and worked as art director for the original “Nantucket Magazine”. Bobby is currently AAN Curator of Exhibitions, managing the AAN Permanent Collection and overseeing the hanging of present-day exhibitions at the Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery at 19 Washington Street and at AAN events. He also acts as the historian for the AAN, researching exhibitions and artists.
