I have always loved Nantucket Island and the home we’ve had here for over 38 years. My first anniversary gift was a Nantucket basket and I knew immediately that I wanted to master the craft of creating these beautiful artifacts.
Shortly thereafter, I began the study of the art under the guidance of Bill Severns, my first teacher. He considered those teachings a challenge because I was left-handed. Needless to say, I’ve solidified my desire to strive for perfection.
Every one of my baskets are made by hand and tightly woven using the finest quality materials. Each basket evolves into a work of art. Many of my baskets are adorned with handmade carvings and scrimshaw. I find great pleasure in creating new and unique styles of Nantucket Lightship baskets, whirligigs, miniatures, and jewelry to name a few.
I am a member of NLBM, where my creations have been on display, won numerous awards and attained first place positions in art shows for outstanding workmanship. My work may be seen in the permanent collection of NLBM.
It is my desire that my baskets become family heirlooms to be treasured and passed on to future generations.
